The site provides historical information for general educational purposes. It describes what the historical evidence shows about how religious traditions changed over time; it does not endorse or disparage any faith, and it is not religious, legal or professional advice.
Quoting and citing
You are welcome to quote reasonable excerpts with attribution and a link to the page, and to cite any page in academic or other work (each chapter provides ready-made citations). Please do not republish whole chapters without permission.
Images
Images come from Wikimedia Commons under their own free licences (public domain or Creative Commons). The author and licence are credited beside each image and on each series' sources page; reuse must follow that image's licence, not these terms.
Accuracy
We work hard to be accurate and cite every claim, but scholarship moves and errors happen. The site is provided “as is”, without warranties of any kind. Please report errors via our contact page.
